동역학적 시스템에서 노이즈에 영향을 받아 상태의 전이transition가 일어나는 티핑을 노이즈로 인한 티핑noise induced tipping, 혹은 간단히 N-티핑N-tipping이라 한다.

위 삽화는 확률적인 섭동perturbation가 어트랙터를 벗어날 정도로 강한 충격을 주어서 시스템이 다른 상태로 급격하게 이동하는 N-티핑을 묘사하고 있다2. 노이즈가 고려되는 특성 상 그 모델링은 확률미분방정식이 주로 쓰이게 되며, 시스템 자체가 복잡하지 않더라도 분석이 상당히 까다로워지는 특징도 있다. 근본적으로 확산항diffusion term의 영향력이 강해지면 어떤 경우든 일어날 수 있어 미분방정식의 수식적인 형태 자체와는 무관하게 일어날 수 있는 티핑이기도 하다.
