The assigning of each point on a straight line to a real number is called the number line.
Explanation
It is called a number line even though it is always drawn horizontally because it is line of numbers, not a perpendicular line.
An arrow is usually drawn in the direction that the numbers increase. If you draw two number lines, it becomes a coordinate plane. Drawing three lines results in a coordinate space.
